YUKON Charity Foundation Donated Ear Temperature Measuring Devices to the Centre for Simulation Medicine

19 February 2024

The YUKON Charity Foundation has donated state-of-the-art ear temperature measuring devices to the Centre for Simulation Medicine in order to strengthen its material and technical resources and support the high-quality training of medical professionals.

The donated device is an infrared thermometer that measures the temperature inside the ear canal. Thanks to a special sensor, the device detects infrared radiation from the eardrum and ear tissues, enabling a quick and accurate measurement of body temperature.

The device offers the following benefits:

  • The temperature is measured in a fraction of a second and displayed on the screen in digital format;
  • Thanks to the replaceable hygienic tips, sterility is ensured and the device can be used repeatedly;
  • The ear measurement method is more accurate than underarm or oral measurements, as the eardrum reacts more quickly to physical changes in the body;
  • The procedure is comfortable even for young children and patients who find it difficult to hold a standard thermometer.

Use in medical and educational practice

The device can be used:

  • in healthcare facilities for rapid patient screening;
  • in emergency situations when time is of the essence;
  • in simulation scenarios to train medical staff in the rapid collection and analysis of patient data.

The donation of this equipment was made possible thanks to the initiative and support of Mykhailo Shkurey, head of the YUKON Charity Foundation.

The YUKON Charity Foundation continuously provides support to medical and educational institutions, contributing to the development of high-quality medical training in Ukraine.
